Bloggers United November challenge... Week 1

Well, Hello Ya'll!!!
If you've been here before and paid attention to my side bar then you've seen the button for bloggers united!!  I just recieved my first e-mail from them for our first challenge for November.  The challenge is I have 15 million dollars to spend, (pretend ofcourse) what would I spend it on?

Well the first thing I would do would be to buy a nice little house (with atleast 4 or 5 bedrooms) instead of this stinken apartment!!  I think I would want it to look something like this in the living room/family room.......
Credit for photo is here

This photo came from the same place as the one above

I would have to have a room like this just because I love the ceiling and it looks so cozy!!!  I'm not sure what I would put in it, but it would be a must have!!!

Photo came from here
My boys would of course would have their own rooms and a room set aside just for toys!!!

Storage like this would be a MUST!!!
Perfect for my oldest!!!  Same place as above
Perfect for my youngest!! Same place as above
This would have to be part of the playroom
So cute!!! See here
Ok now onto master bedroom!!!......  I only have one photo for this because this is my all time favorite and I so want to fall asleep or read a book in this room!!  It is just beautiful!!! You have to go check out her blog she is amazing!!!

You should see the whole room, it's beautiful!!
I would then of course have to have the ultimate craft room!!! ......

Something along these lines would suit me just fine!!
All credits for this room and photo go here
And to go in the new beautiful craft room would be these beauties!!!

Ok, that about concludes what my house would look like!!  Now onto the misc. things I thing I would buy!!

Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR Camera with Canon EF 28-135mm IS lens

The last thing I can think of would be my all time dream trip to New York City!!!  I have dreamt of going to NYC for years and we haven't had the funds (day to day life comes first) so I think I would have to plan the ultimate trip to NYC!!!  We would have to go on the ultimate tour and stay for atleast a month just to see it all!!

See isn't it beautiful!!!  I will get there someday!!!

Well I'm sure that isn't even close to enough things to equal 15 million, but that's all I can think of and it would definetly make me happy!!!  Well for now that all, so untill next time........

Trying new things

I'm really falling behind on my posts, aren't I?

I've been trying new crafts in the past couple of days and one that I've tried I really REALLY enjoyed!!!  That would be using freezer paper to stencill shirts for my boys.  I've admired the really cute boys shirts I've seen on the net and in magazines, but I just can't bring myself to spend almost $20 on a shirt that they will outgrow before the year is up anyway so this turns out to be the perfect solution!!!  They love their shirts and I think the smiles on thier faces give it away.  I am a very proud mommy and crafter today.  All smiles!!!

I also made this for my front door because the outside of our apartment needed a touch of fall just like the inside.  It's made out of foam, cardboard, old sweater, fake fall leaves I had left from a few years ago and some ribbon from my stash.  It came together quite nicely I think and it's very cute hanging on my door!!  What do ya'll think?

Well until next time (hopefully soon).........

My living room is coming together.....

Good Afternoon all my lovely blog friends!!!  It's pretty cloudy here today so it's been a slow and lazy day for us.  I figured I would try to stay awake and show ya'll a few things that I've got done lately.   They're not my usual craft type projects, but they were fun to do and they make our little apartment even more cozy.

Oh by the way, remember when I said that we were going to move?  Well we've decided to stay here for a little longer.  There was just something unsettling about the landlords that we couldn't  put our finger on.   Anyways back to what I was saying, I bought a few cheep cans of spray paint and went through our store room and found some old mirrors that had been broken (probably by my honey moving things around, but sssshhhhh we won't tell him I know) and some old frames that I didn't want because they were just awful to look at and I started painting.
Our living room up until this point has been pretty boring considering we have brown micro-suede couches and a black entertainment center,  so I thought we needed some color.  Awhile back I found some beautiful material at an estate sale (we're talking almost 4 yards) for about .50 and it's just been sitting in the closet waiting for the perfect project.  It has beautiful shades of red, turquoise, green and yellow so I decided that I was going to use it as my inspiration.  I didn't want to overdue the color so I just used it in different places to add a pop to the living room and make it more comfy!!!

This was on old black and gold frame.  I spray painted it red and covered the cardboard back piece with turquoise textered paper and glued the 2 plant hanging hooks to it.  We use it now to hang our keys when we come in the door.
This photo shows it in use with our keys hanging for the hook and the cute little turquoise owl perched on top!!  So pretty right??
This is a piece of the material I was bragging about earlier, see I wasn't lying it is as pretty as I said!!
I used one of my Grandma's old wooden embroidery hoops to display the material and sat it on a small shelf.

This C I actually made a while back, but I never knew where I wanted it to hang.  It's the perfect match for our newly decorated wall!!!

This is a photo of the wall all put together.  Just ignore the dirty vent in the tope left corner, I can't reach it and I'm waiting for my honey to take it down for me.  I may rearrange somethings or add something I haven't decided yet.  What do ya'll think?

I also made these pillows for our couch, I plan to make more but I ran out of polyfil so they will have to go on my to-do list.

This is the fabric drawer (box) to hold all of our movies and xbox games.  Out of sight, out of  mind.  Right?
I got so tired of seeing all those movies and games they are not so pretty to look at.

The blue bird cage on the left was originally white.  The white oval mirror was black and the yellow frame was one of the broken mirrors and it was originally black.  These are just on this shelf temporarilly until I decide where they should go.

So, what do ya'll think?  Is it coming together ok or should I change a few things around?  Until next time......

Recent Projects

It's been awhile since I posted any photos of my recent projects so I figured I would use this lazy Saturday as the perfect opportunity to share.  I'm not using my normal camera in these photos because it needs new batteries so please excuse the really crappy photos.

These are 2 of the tie applique shirts I made for my boys.  Both of the ties were made from scrap material I had in my stash and the 2 t-shirts had small spots right down the middle from some kind of messy food.  I couldn't bring myself to throw the shirts away because they still fit my boys, but I don't like it when they wear stained clothes because they look sloppy (I get that from my mom I guess).  Aren't they cute I will make sure to take photos of them with their shirts on when they wear them to visit their Grandparents tomorrow.

These are zipper flower hair clips that I made for my nieces, our little town is a football town (we live in West Texas, say no more right) and the school colors are green and white.  The 4 on the right are the ones to show school spirit and the ones on the left are just a few other ones.  Since I don't have any daughters the only time I get to make anything really girly and cute is when I make it for my nieces.  I've made a bunch of these so far and these are the only ones I've managed to take photos of, I'm still trying to get in the habit of taking photos of all of the things I make so I can blog about it.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE zippers so these are always fun to make and not to mention so easy!!!

I've been preparing for our move, so I've been making all kinds of things to help with organizing my craft supplies because I won't have as much closet space at the new house.  We use to have a toy cabinet type thing that had collapsable fabric drawers in it, but we got rid of that when my youngest started climbing on everything.  I'm a little on the frugal side so I'm not going to go out and by those fabric drawers when I can make my own so I did just that.  I plan on adding alot more color to our new place and these drawers will be a great start!!!

I mentioned in my last post about the crayon rolls that I was making for Christmas presents. These  are 2 of
the ones that I've made.  The one that is unrolled is made out of pieces of scrap flannel.  I didn't have any crayons to put in the little pockets for the photo so I used a highlighter, but you get the point right?

I have found myself recently loving yarn wreaths so I decided I had to give it a try.  For my first attempt I don't think it turned out too bad.  I love the colors, the navy blue with the ivory and cocoa colored felt roses and the vintage buttons that belonged to my grandma.  It makes me smile everytime I look at it.

WOW!!!  I have really fallen behind when it comes to keeping up with my posts when it comes to my projects.  I'm going to try and do better because I think I've missed a few since I was trying to catch up.  Until next time......

Christmas Gift ideas

I know it's October and I should be preparing for Halloween instead, but since we're moving soon I know that I will fall behind when it comes to all of my projects so I thought I would share a few things with ya'll tonight that I'm going to be making  for my boys and a few other people.  Some of these I've already made and some I have to get started on.  I hope ya'll enjoy, these aren't my tutorials and I haven't followed them all step by step some of them I've kinda done my own thing with and just used these tutorials as inspiration.

These crayon rolls are great and they're convenient for us as parents too because they can be carried in the diaper bag or your purse.  I did some tweaking to a few of mine for the older kids because my nieces love to color and prefer the 24 packs of crayons for more variety.  When I have the dimensions all figured out I will try to come up with a tutorial for the 24 count crayon roll, but in the mean while you should really go check out this tutorial it's so easy and fun to make.  It's also a great way to get rid or some or you scraps that you have laying around.

I didn't use this tutorial when I made these, but while I was doing a search for tutorials I found this one and I must say this is one of the best that I've found and the easiest to follow, check it out.  I actually made these for myself when I first made them and I ended up making a few for Christmas presents.

This is one of my favorites so far because it's so simple and so easy to make and take along where ever you go just like the crayon rolls.  My boys love their cars and they tend to fight over who is going to play with which one.  I made a few tweeks to this tutorial because I added a pocket to keep the cars in and it still rolls up nicely for easy storage.  You should give this one a try and she even has a link to a girl version of the car mat, very cute!!!

Ok, this is one of the one's that I need to get started on so I can get it done in time.  I'm going to make it more like a barn, fire station or police department I think so it's more suitable for my boys.  She has a very detailed tutorial that seems easy enough to follow and once again it's another travel toy.  Are you starting to notice a theme with all of these tutorials........???  Anything to make traveling in the car easier on us and the kids I'm all for!!!

I hope ya'll have enjoyed these tutorials and I hope that they've inspired you and given you some ideas for Christmas!!
